The 2022 Midlands Women in Tech Awards nominations launched at the inaugural ‘Round Table Sessions’ last night.

ROUND TABLE SESSIONS – A series of events across the year featuring local experts, designed to share knowledge and experience to develop the female tech talent in the Midlands.

At the inaugural session, we heard from four local experts in the Tech Sector on the topic of ‘Traits of a Good Tech Leader’ who shared their own thoughts as well as took questions from the audience.

The panellists shared their own experiences of being mentored and needing to be given the opportunities to shine.

Thank you to our incredible and inspirational female tech leader panellists:

Tracy Westall – Chairperson at Curium Solutions, Board member of DIT and WM5G Limited.

“Seeing more females in middle and senior leadership roles is a must in order to allow upcoming talent to have those role models.”

Amandip Jheeta – SAP Service Delivery Head at JLR-TCS, an award-winning woman in tech and diversity champion.

“Good leaders realise the importance of their team and develop a culture that delivers more than the individual elements could achieve.”

Safina Begum – Head of Service Operations at NTT Data.

“It so important that leaders recognise and support skills of individual team members.”

Delegates relished the opportunity to speak to the panellists and share their own experiences.

One of the attendees said: ‘It is important to know that we are able to reach into such community because I am still a minority female voice in my own team of 18 IT Technicians. Seeing some of the brilliant women here this evening has given me a boost that I could not only have more women in my team but also be the team leader.”
